Zipper Pouches for All Occasions

So this last week I've been on a bit of a mission, to make lots of pencil cases or zipper pouches for lots of different people.  It all started when my friend bought my son some gorgeous personalised coloured pencils, with his name neatly written in gold on every single one.  He simply had to have a special pencil case for them!  So here it is.

And of course I couldn't make one for my youngest with out Little Miss Candy wanting one.  So she got this one.  I have to admit, I do just love this fabric combo, especially those cute little deer.

Then I made an early Easter teacher gift ready to be filled with mini eggs. (Wow, I've never been this organised before!)

I also made one for my friend...

One for my 8 year old cousin...

And one for my 12 year old cousin, who's a boy.

The 30 zips that I ordered from Ebay last week are rapidly disappearing!  These pencil cases are great to make, check out the tutorial on the Little Red Window blog.

A Laminated Zipper Pouch

One thing that's been on my 'to do' list for a long time is to make some pouches with zippers, as it's not something I've done a lot of and I wanted to work on a few 'quick' projects.

So when I was shopping at The City Quilter in NYC, I thought it the prime opportunity to stock up on zips in a selection of colours and when I got home I didn't delay.

I used this tutorial by Noodlehead, which is very clear, even I could manage to follow it ;-)  The other advantage of this pattern is it gives you a range of sizes, from big, medium to small, so you can choose the size to suit your needs.

Also while shopping at The City Quilter, I was stopped in my tracks by the wonderful selection of laminate fabrics available.  And they weren't the thick, tablecloth kind, but thin and soft, and perfect for pouches, aprons etc.  Isn't this blue and aqua laminate just to die for!

I decided to line my pouch and close my zip with these gorgeous Moda dots.

I don't think you can ever have enough dots in your stash, they are gorgeous and timeless.

I'm not ashamed to say I'm chuffed to bits with my very first zipper pouch.  And I really enjoyed the making process.  So much so that I made another one...but I'll share that another day.

Thank you for stopping by,

Sarah x
